Just because you received the marketing message does not mean you are the target market.

I don't think I've... ever... received a newsletter, despite having signed up 3-4 times over the course of the last year.

ANet: Exciting "new" news for those waiting for Guild Wars 2! It has been released.
Playerbase: We're all already GWAMMs in GW2.

A-Net is late on every single thing they do. From moving the Traveler to updateing skills, what makes you think the news letter would be any different.

I thought I already bugged them to stop sending me these.
Guess not - I guess I just presumed that because I didn't get any for AGES, I was the only one not getting them.
Unsubscribe it is.

Such wit. But the target audience is unlikely to be people who hang out on Guru, and/or still play every day. Rather, the people who only play casually/occasionally or have moved on. The email is to let them know that there's new stuff, and tries to entice them back into the game.
